Wicked from the Womb?
Let’s have a quick discussion about children!
I have seen and heard of children who have been very difficult from a very young age, some even exhibit erratic, destructive, and wicked behaviors. Yes, young children can be very difficult yet sweet little humans, they start to recognize wrongs and rights as they grow and are given directions by their guardians. A child well guided and guarded oftentimes turns out to be an amazing individual later in life, this is the expectation of most people if not everyone. However, some, no matter how a parent or guardian tries their best, just seem to remain vile. What went wrong?
One of the most contradicting scriptures about children you will find in the bible is Psalms 58:3(ICB)
“From birth evil men start doing bad things.
They tell lies and do wrong as soon as they are born. “
This is very contradicting to Psalms 127:3 which says “Children are a gift from the Lord. Babies are a reward.” So, if babies are gifts from the Lord how can any child be the opposite?
By nature, we were all born in a sinful nature “Ephesians 2:3 – In the past, all of us lived like them. We lived trying to please our sinful selves. We did all the things our bodies and minds wanted. We should have suffered God’s anger because we were sinful by nature. We were the same as all other people.” If this is true therefore it takes effort, determination, and God’s help to raise Godly children whom the bible refers to as GIFTS.
Quick tips on Raising Godly children?
- Do not leave your children’s upbringing to chance. Be intentional.
- Make them your ministry which would require dedicating time and resources to because they are your primary assignment and if you do not mind, your primary job!
- Be resolute, and prayerfully confess from when they are in the womb that your children will be ‘good’ and the best.
- Speak God’s word over them, pray over them with laying of hands.
- Train them in the way of the Lord.
- Trust God for them, do not fear, and keep praying for them!

How does culture and environment affect a child’s upbringing and how intentional must a parent be in regards to that.

Culture and the environment has significant influence on a child’s upbringing. Cultural norms, values, and behaviors prevailing in a society shape a child’s early learning experiences. For instance, when a child is immersed in a culture that values respect and witnesses this virtue consistently demonstrated, they are likely to internalize a sense of respect. Conversely, if a child grows up in an environment marked by conflict and disregard for others, they might come to view such behaviors as the norm.
Cultural and environmental factors also determine how an individual learns to socialize, communicate, comprehend relationships, and grasp responsibilities within their home and the broader community. Additionally, aspects like family dynamics, religion, education, and dietary habits are often heavily influenced by the culture and environment in which a child is raised.
Understanding this interplay empowers us to be deliberate in shaping the environment in which we want our children to grow. We can make informed choices about their educational institutions, religious exposure, dietary habits, and more. Even when circumstances dictate certain constraints, we can exhibit resilience by leveraging available resources to ensure that our children are exposed to the values and experiences we deem important for their development.
Most importantly, show them Jesus!
Isaiah 54:13 “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.”
My question here is, for some children; no matter how intentional, prayerful and guidance given to them by their parents or people in charge of them. They still end up misbehaving and living unrighteous and most atimes, these are children of Ministers of God and they were not negligented during upbringing.
What could be the reason for this? What else can be done to savage such cases?

Negative Influences: Children can be influenced by their peers, family friends, and neighbors. It’s essential to ensure they associate with positive influences.
Past Experiences: Unpleasant childhood experiences can contribute to misbehavior. Providing a loving and supportive environment is crucial to help them overcome these challenges.
Desire to Belong: Children often act out to fit in with their peers. Encouraging a sense of belonging within the family can mitigate this.
To be intentional about raising children, consider the following:
Create a Loving Environment: Foster a nurturing and loving home environment for them to thrive in.
Monitor and Guide: Pay attention to their actions and guide them towards the right path.
Choose the Right Company: Ensure they interact with the right people from a young age.
Set Standards and Enforce Discipline : Establish clear behavioral expectations and boundaries within the family. When necessary, enforce discipline and maintain consistency in your approach

Spiritual Guidance: Lead them to Christ – It’s not just enough that children are born into faith and church lives, there has to be a time in their lives when they truly understand what it means to be a child of God and actually give their own lives to Jesus because the faith of their parents is not sufficient for them.

1. Seek professional help when necessary.
2. Do not relent in praying for the child/person.
Remember, addressing misbehavior requires patience, understanding, and a holistic approach.
